DEIF WSS500 / WSS550
The DEIF WSS 500 and 550 are wind speed and direction sensors. They use an ultrasonic sensor to determine the horizontal velocity and direction of the air flow. Due to the absence of moving parts, friction, inertia, time constant, overspeed and initial threshold do not affect measurement accuracy. The triangular design of the sensor array ensures accurate determination of the wind direction from all sides. The sensors do not require maintenance and field calibration.
The WSS 550 is equipped with a built-in heating element to prevent icing, while the WSS 500 only works up to 0 C. The WSS 500 and 550 can be connected directly to the DEIF XDi-N indicator and WSDI-2 and WSDI displays that require a WSI interface. The WSS 500 and 550 sensors can be used as stand-alone wind sensors in various applications where wind information is important and short breaks due to extreme weather conditions are not critical.
The sensor housings are designed to operate in harsh marine conditions. The stainless steel mounting rod with a 3⁄4 pipe thread facilitates installation and ensures reliable grounding through the hull of the vessel. The WSS 500 and 550 are equipped with a two-way RS-485 connector for communication over the NMEA 0183 protocol. The power supply is provided from 12 or 24 V DC (from 9 to 31.2 V DC).
