Registration of a certificate for SAILOR

Communication and RadioNavigation can now independently issue a certificate for SAILOR equipment. This will significantly save the time spent on obtaining the certificate.
The quality control system of Thrane & Thrane A/S trading as Cobham SATCOM has been tested and certified to comply with the requirements set out in Section 7.4 of Part I of the Rules for Technical Supervision during the Construction of Ships and Manufacture of Materials and Products for Ships, of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), "SURVEY BASED ON APPROVAL OF THE QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM, TIER 2 — CKK 2".
The RS CKK2 certificate No. 20.10014.262, of 23.09.2020.
The certification has led to various changes, one of which is related to the documents issued for the products covered by CKK 2.
In accordance with RS Rules, compliance of the products manufactured by the company is confirmed by one of the following documents, depending on the product’s group:
· “MC” — a document drawn up by the manufacturer in which the material or product compliance with the RS requirements is declared.
· “M” — a document drawn up by the manufacturer according to the standards of the firm.
Cobham SATCOM’s standard production test certificate supplied with a product is under the “M” certificate.
The “MC” certificate will be issued for the products when applicable based on the applications submitted by our partners via Cobham SYNC starting from 1 January 2021.
The actual MC template as well as the procedure of how to fill in the certificate and apply for its verification by Cobham SATCOM staff can be found on the SYNC webpage mentioned above.
