Cobham Satcom for maritime security

Cobham Satcom has introduced a new range of satellite-based security terminals for maritime vessels at SMM 2024 in Hamburg.
New terminals SAILOR
The main features and benefits are:

1. Compatibility with new GMDSS services: Both terminals support operation with new safety services from Inmarsat and Iridium, including voice distress alerts, messaging and data communications. These features provide reliable emergency communications, enabling faster response to potential hazards at sea.
2. LRIT and SSAS integration: The terminals integrate Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) and Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS) into one single device for ship security and monitoring. This reduces installation and maintenance costs and simplifies operation.
3. Compact design and cost-effective: The new terminals feature compact, low-power antennas with a wide-angle pattern. This reduces installation and operating costs while ensuring high performance and reliability.
4. Simple and intuitive interface: The SAILOR interface makes terminal operation simple and easy, which is important for maritime operators in extreme environments. The ease of installation and use reduces crew training time and minimizes operational errors.

Cobham Satcom has a long history in the industry and was one of the first suppliers of GMDSS equipment from the early 1990s. As a pioneer in mobile satellite communications, Cobham Satcom has sold over 300,000 L-band marine antennas. LRIT LRIT.

According to Peter Broadhurst, senior vice president of safety and regulatory affairs at Inmarsat Maritime, the collaboration with Cobham Satcom continues both companies' long tradition of ensuring the safety of mariners. In turn, Wouter Deknopper, vice president of maritime operations at Iridium, emphasized that the new features, which include enhanced Iridium Certus capabilities, make the SAILOR 7200 GMDSS and SAILOR 4300 terminals ideal for global communications.

Cobham Satcom's new SAILOR Fleet C and SAILOR 7200 GMDSS terminals provide revolutionary solutions for maritime security. Their versatility, integration of advanced technology and ability to operate in harsh environments make them an essential component in securing vessels wherever they are located.
