VHF radio In accordance with the requirements of IMO Resolution MSC.338 (91)

The IMO regulation (SOLAS regulation 10.10.4) requires that all new vessels from July 1, 2014 equip their fire control teams with at least two intrinsically safe radios to ensure communication between firefighters. Ships built before July 1, 2014, must comply with the new SOLAS rules by July 1, 2018.

For ships constructed on or after 1 July 2014, a minimum of two two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus for each fire party for fire-fighter's. Those two twoway radiotelephone apparatuses shall be of an explosion-proof type or intrinsically safe. Ships are constructed before July 1, 2014.

In accordance with the requirements of IMO Resolution MSC.338 (91), it is necessary to have at least 2 sets of explosion-proof two-way radio-telephone equipment for explosive fire fighting equipment on board the ship.

It is also necessary to take into account that:

  • According to p. 1.3.2.9, part IV "Radio equipment" - equipment must be certified by the Register of Shipping and subject to technical supervision.
  • In the relevant SRT equipment is indicated.

* Elements of emergency power are not taken into account.

  • Based on the rules of the Register of Shipping, the place of storage of portable VHF radio equipment is not regulated.

* For the introduction of equipment in documents at the moment in the RS is the work of changing the forms of documents.
