Documentation:
VR-7000S is a simplified flight data recorder developed by Furuno, designed to record what is happening on board the vessel and to assist in the investigation of the causes of marine accidents. The principle of operation of VR-7000S is similar to DDR, which are installed on airplanes. All key navigation and status data are recorded, including bridge, VHF and radar images.

The VR-7000S complies with IMO standards for the performance of the U-RDR, resolution MSC 163 (78). It follows that data can be stored for 48 hours in a stationary and free-floating recording device, 720 hours on a solid-state carrier in a data acquisition unit, as well as images from two radars and an ECDIS main station. The extracted data can be saved on a USB storage device. VR-7000S is approved by RMRS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping).
