The Mega-Guard Heading Control System (HCS) with dynamic positioning function automatically controls vessel's heading by controlling the rudders. with dynamic positioning function automatically controls vessel's heading by controlling the rudders. The Mega-Guard HCS includes an auto positioning mode (dynamic positioning) by controlling both the rudders and the thrusters. The Heading Control System fulfills the rules of classification societies and wheelmark. The reliable autopilot supports single rudders and twin independent rudders. Turn by radius, turn by ROT and track control functions are included. The HCS includes as well a multi-function joystick with steering mode selection pushbuttons. The joystick is used for user friendly heading seipoint adjustment and can also be used for manual steering (FFU). emergency steering (NFU) and auto positioning (DP).
The Steering Control Cabinet is bulkhead mounted in steering room. The Steering Control Cabinet includes a steering control system, a rudder indication system, a NFU back-up system and a no break power supply with power distribution. The steering control system is built-up with a Control Processor and an I/O Module:
• I/O Module with 4 analog outputs and up to 20 free configurable I/O points (AI.AO.DI and DO)
The Steering Control Cabinet supports rudders with digital control signals (solenoid valve to PS and solenoid valve to SB) and with analog control signals (proportional solenoid valve). Two rudder feedback sensors can be connected to the steering control system. The steering control system receives rudder position setpoints from the HCS Controller and from the manual steering device (joystick, handwheel or tiller). Field cables are connected to the terminal strips on the I/O Module. The NFU back-up system bypasses the steering controller and the NFU pushbuttons on bridge directly operate the PS and SB solenoid valves. A no break power supply with power distribution is built-in the Steering Control Cabinet. Two power supplies need to be connected to the Heading Control System:
• 230VAC main supply
• 24VDC back-up battery supply
All other components from the Heading Control System are fed from the power distribution logic in the Steering Control Cabinet.
